Description

This direct-replacement engine coolant thermostat housing assembly is manufactured to original equipment standards to restore proper engine operating temperature and thermal efficiency in Chevrolet and Opel/Vauxhall 1.6L and 1.8L ECOTEC platforms. Constructed from high-temperature, glass-fiber reinforced composite thermoplastic, this complete unit includes a pre-installed thermostat element and integrated coolant temperature sensor to withstand high cooling system pressure and chemical coolant exposure. Replacing a cracked, warped, or leaking thermostat housing resolves active coolant leaks, engine overheating, delayed warm-up times, poor cabin heater output, and check engine lights (P0128 thermostat malfunction codes).

Application Note: Specifically engineered for Chevrolet and Opel / Vauxhall 1.6L and 1.8L 16V DOHC ECOTEC naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines (A16XER, Z16XER, A18XER, Z18XER, F16D4, F18D4, LDE, 2HO engine codes). Important Fitment Note: Allow the engine to cool completely before opening the cooling system. Thoroughly clean the engine block mating surface to remove all corrosion and trace dirt. Ensure the integrated rubber housing gasket is positioned correctly prior to installation. Tighten mounting bolts evenly in a cross pattern to factory torque specification to prevent housing flange distortion. Refill system with DEX-COOL / factory-approved coolant and bleed air completely from the cooling circuit before operation.
